Fittingly approved by the FDA in 1997, Flomax is a paragon preparation
for the treatment of the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Under benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), men experience immense difficulty
while urinating. The disorder originates when men's prostate gland expands,
and muscles with in it and the neck of the bladder, which regulates the
urine flow, also constrict. This in turn leads to the compression of urethra
and impediment in the urine flow. So, urine retention occurs within the
bladder.
Flomax helps men by blocking up the effect of epinephrine (adrenalin),
a chemical released by the alpha adrenergic nerves and makes muscle cells
tight. Thus by wedging up the effect of this chemical on the muscle cells,
Flomax, peddled also as Tamsulosin, enables muscles to relax and reduces
obstruction in the urine flow.
How to be ingested?
Available in the form of capsule, Tamsulosin is generally taken once in
a day by mouth. It must be taken 30 minutes after the same meal every
day. Flomax capsules should not be opened, chewed or crushed. Take it
