Brand name- Flumadine
Approved for usage in 1993, Rimantadine is a synthetic anti-viral preparation
and is chemically linked to amantadine (Symmetrel).
Acknowledged also as Flumadine, it is prescribed for the prevention and
treatment of infections caused influenza A virus, particularly in people
who are at a high risk of developing Flu such as immunosuppressed patients.
However, it can't be utilized as an alternative to Vaccination.
The pinnacle preparation prevents the spread of influenza A virus to
healthy cells. To limit the spread of flu infection, Rimantadine should
be given within 24 to 48 hours of the flu symptoms influx.
How to be taken?
Manufactured in the form of tablet and liquid, Rimantadine is generally
consumed once or twice a day by mouth. It is recommended for 2 to 12 weeks.
To effectively control and treat the Flu outbreaks, read all the directions
on your prescription's label carefully. Take Flumadine
exactly as administered by your doctor. Do not take more or less of the
medication than recommended by your physician.
Missed dose
Take the forgotten dose as soon as possible. However if it is almost time
for the next dose intake, leave the missed dose and follow your regular
dosing schedule. Never take two doses of the drug at the same time.

your mind before or while using Rimantadine:
- Do not use Rimantadine if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.
- Make your doctor aware if you have a history of kidney or liver disorders.
- Also inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding women.
- Also tell you doctor the names of prescription or OTC medicines,
herbal products, and dietary supplements you are taking up.
- It only acts against certain types of the flu
and does not cure other viral infections such as the common cold.
Possible drug interactions

- Acetaminophen or aspirin as they may reduce the sum of Rimantadine
in your blood
- Cimetidine as it may augment the odds of the drug's side effects
